Law and Social Policy in Social Insurance

GOAL OF THE STUDIES

The goal of the studies is to provide and consolidate the legal knowledge and knowledge in the field of social policy necessary to understand the functioning of social insurance in the legal system.

DESCRIPTION

studies are interdisciplinary; however, the main focus is put on the issues related to law. During the studies, issues related to labour law and social security law, civil law, commercial law, bankruptcy and restructuring law, tax law and public finance are presented, as well as issues related to administrative and enforcement proceedings in administration and civil examination and enforcement proceedings in the scope necessary for the practical and everyday implementation of tasks in the field of social insurance. In addition, in order to prepare employees for professional performance of duties, the studies also include the issues related to ethical conduct of an official, and prepare the students for customer service as well as self management and team management.

GRADUATE PROFILE

After completing the studies:

  • you will possess knowledge on the issues related to labour law and social security law, civil law, commercial law, bankruptcy and restructuring law, tax law and public finance law.
  • you will be acquainted with the issues related to administrative and enforcement proceedings in administration and civil examination and enforcement proceedings in the scope necessary for the practical and everyday implementation of tasks in the field of social insurance.
  • you are prepared to work with clients, manage yourself and a team of people.

CURRICULUM

The studies are interdisciplinary; however, the main focus is put on the issues related to law. During the studies, issues related to labour law and social security law, civil law, commercial law, bankruptcy and restructuring law, tax law and public finance are presented, as well as issues related to administrative and enforcement proceedings in administration and civil examination and enforcement proceedings in the scope necessary for the practical and everyday implementation of tasks in the field of social insurance. In addition, in order to prepare employees for professional performance of duties, the studies also include the issues related to ethical conduct of an official, and prepare the students for customer service, self management, and team management.

LECTURERS

The classes are conducted by experienced lecturers and authorities in the field of law, social policy and psychology – employees of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Silesia, and current practitioners – legal counsels, attorneys, and tax advisers.

ORGANISATION

Duration:
Number of semesters: 2
Number of hours: 210 hours

Organisation of classes:
The classes take place every two weeks (Saturday-Sunday) from 9 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Graduation criteria:
Diploma thesis on a topic chosen by the student and approved by the supervisor.

Graduation document:
Postgraduate diploma issued by the University of Silesia in Katowice.

ADMISSION PROCESS

The studies are addressed to people professionally involved in social insurance or planning to work in this area. The studies are addressed to people who have completed 1st or 2nd cycle studies.

Admission criteria:
Candidates are admitted to studies according to the registration order and the result of the admission procedure (if it was conducted).

Planned date of beginning of classes: October/February

FEES

After being admitted to postgraduate studies, you may start your studies, subject to paying the fee for postgraduate studies. Payments should be made to the student’s individual account, within the deadlines specified in the agreement.
