The administrator of your personal data is the University of Silesia in Katowice. You can contact the personal data administrator in the following ways:

  1. Purpose and legal basis for personal data processing

We will process your personal data for the purpose of carrying out admission process to postgraduate studies.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is Art. 6 Par. 1 letter a of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2016/279 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation):

    1. Your consent to personal data processing for the purpose of admission procedure;
  • perform a task carried out in the public interest by specifying through
    legal acts internal regulations effective at the University of Silesia,
    in particular Rules and Regulations of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Silesia and template agreement concerning tuition fees for postgraduate studies.

Providing your personal data is voluntary, but necessary in order to complete the registration process for postgraduate studies. In case you do not provide your data, it will not be possible to fulfil the above-mentioned purpose.

  • Your consent to personal data processing, related to providing e-mail address and/or telephone number from Online Application System to USOS (University Support System of Studies). Providing the above-mentioned data is voluntary and will only take place if you enroll for studies. Providing your e-mail address and/or telephone number is intended to protect your interests and will allow for quick contact in any matters related to educational process.

Giving consent to personal data processing for the purpose specified
in Paragraph 3) going beyond the admission process is voluntary, and it is not necessary to carry out the admission procedure. However, please consider giving the consent, as it will help us maintain contact with you in the future. We will ask you for your consent
at a later stage of the admission procedure. You will be able to change your decision at any moment of the admission process.

  1. Personal data storage period

We shall store your personal data for 6 months from the date of completing the admission process.

  1. Data recipients

We can share your personal data with public bodies or entities authorised to obtain such data based on the effective legal regulations.

  1. Rights related to personal data processing

You shall have the following rights to personal data processing:

  1. right to withdraw the consent to personal data processing – see below;
  2. right to access your personal data – during the admission process you have access to your personal data provided by means of Online Application System;
  3. request rectification of your personal data which are incorrect and obtain completion of incomplete personal data;
  4. right to request the removal of your personal data, in particular
    in the case of withdrawal of your consent for processing, when there are no other legal grounds for personal data processing;
  5. right to request restriction in the processing of your personal data;
  6. right to lodge a complaint against the processing of your personal data, due to your specific situation, in the case when we process them for the purpose of implementing a public task;
  7. right to transfer your personal data, i.e. right for us to receive your personal data, in a structured, universally applied machine-readable form. You can send these data to another personal data administrator, or request us to send your data to another administrator. However, we will only do it if this is technically feasible. You shall have the right to transfer your personal data only regarding the data that we process in automatic manner, i.e. in electronic form, based on the agreement with you, or based on your consent;
  8. right not to be subject only to automated decision-taking profiling; 
  9. right to lodge a complaint to a supervisory body dealing with personal data protection, i.e. President of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection.

Right to withdraw the consent to personal data processing

To the extent to which your data are processed based on your consent, you shall have the right to withdraw your consent to personal data processing at any time. Withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing of personal data which was based on your consent before its withdrawal. You can withdraw your consent by sending the statement on withdrawing your consent to our mailing address or e-mail address: iod@us.edu.pl.

I hereby declare that:

  1. I shall take responsibility for the correctness of data entered in the Online Application System, in particular the data affecting the results of admission process and decisions of the admission committee;
  2. personal registration account is the only source for providing information, which means that the information published on the candidate’s personal account shall be considered delivered and binding;
  3. I am aware of the obligation to protect the login and password against the access of third parties and recommended periodic password change. In the case of providing the above-mentioned information to a non-authorised person, I shall assume the responsibility for the processing of my personal data by this person.
